Wheat Gluten Price in Ukraine (CIF) - 2023
The average wheat gluten import price stood at $2,198 per ton in August 2023, shrinking by -20.2% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a modest increase from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, wheat gluten import price decreased by -20.2% against July 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 45% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $2,756 per ton in July 2023, and then fell markedly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Poland ($3,319 per ton), while the price for Lithuania ($1,734 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+5.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wheat Gluten Price in Ukraine (FOB) - 2022
The average wheat gluten export price stood at $2,531 per ton in 2022, jumping by 297% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a resilient increase. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the Czech Republic.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the Netherlands amounted to -7.6% per year.
Wheat Gluten Imports in Ukraine
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of wheat gluten, when their volume decreased by -22.5% to 1.9K tons. Overall, imports showed a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 13% against the previous year.
In value terms, wheat gluten imports declined to $3.6M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 22%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $3.9M, and then declined in the following year.

Wheat Gluten Exports in Ukraine
In 2022, shipments abroad of wheat gluten decreased by -99.7% to 700 kg for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, exports faced a significant decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 12%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 251 tons, and then fell significantly in the following year.
In value terms, wheat gluten exports fell markedly to $1.8K in 2022. In general, exports recorded a significant decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 17%.
