Whole Fresh Milk Price in Serbia (CIF) - 2023
The average whole fresh milk import price stood at $709 per ton in October 2023, almost unchanged from the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 an increase of 8.6% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $867 per ton. From April 2023 to October 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Slovenia ($740 per ton) and Bosnia and Herzegovina ($723 per ton), while the price for Hungary ($544 per ton) and Croatia ($698 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Croatia (-0.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Whole Fresh Milk Price in Serbia (FOB) - 2023
The average whole fresh milk export price stood at $710 per ton in October 2023, surging by 4.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 15% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $945 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to October 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In October 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Bulgaria ($811 per ton) and Bosnia and Herzegovina ($800 per ton), while the average price for exports to Albania ($555 per ton) and North Macedonia ($609 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Whole Fresh Milk Imports in Serbia
In 2022, whole fresh milk imports into Serbia soared to 42K tons, jumping by 33% compared with the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, whole fresh milk imports soared to $29M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

For the third consecutive year, Serbia recorded decline in shipments abroad of whole fresh milk, which decreased by -17.9% to 26K tons in 2022. In general, exports recorded a dramatic decline. The smallest decline of -15.2% was in 2021.
In value terms, whole fresh milk exports expanded remarkably to $17M in 2022. Overall, exports saw a deep downturn.
