Wire and Cable Price in Egypt (FOB) - 2023
In May 2023, the average wire and cable export price amounted to $17,379 per ton, reducing by -8.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 an increase of 21% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $21,690 per ton. From September 2022 to May 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($38,577 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($10,614 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kuwait (+6.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wire and Cable Price in Egypt (CIF) - 2022
The average wire and cable import price stood at $9,151 per ton in 2021, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a noticeable descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 212%. The import price peaked at $11,024 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($21,594 per ton), while the price for China ($4,859 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+16.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wire and Cable Exports in Egypt
In 2022, approx. 113K tons of insulated wire and cable were exported from Egypt; growing by 197% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a prominent increase. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, wire and cable exports soared to $1.4B in 2022. In general, exports recorded a significant expansion. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Wire and Cable Imports in Egypt
In 2022, purchases abroad of insulated wire and cable was finally on the rise to reach 42K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, showed a sharp decline.
