Wire and Cable Price in Sri Lanka (FOB) - 2022
The average wire and cable export price stood at $12,639 per ton in 2022, reducing by -11.6% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, wire and cable export price decreased by -19.5% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 29% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $15,706 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($49,138 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($1,771 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to New Zealand (+16.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average wire and cable import price stood at $9,263 per ton in 2022, surging by 42% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($19,281 per ton), while the price for China ($6,112 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wire and Cable Exports in Sri Lanka
