Wood Pulp Price in Singapore (FOB) - 2022
The average wood pulp export price stood at $956 per ton in 2022, increasing by 36% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, wood pulp export price increased by +67.8% against 2020 indices. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were China ($983 per ton) and Indonesia ($975 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($761 per ton) and Thailand ($785 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average wood pulp import price stood at $661 per ton in 2022, growing by 22% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.2%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 32%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($1,062 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($520 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wood Pulp Exports in Singapore
In 2022, overseas shipments of wood pulp were finally on the rise to reach 315K tons after two years of decline. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a sharp downturn.
In value terms, wood pulp exports surged to $301M in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant curtailment.

For the third year in a row, Singapore recorded decline in overseas purchases of wood pulp, which decreased by -22.7% to 172K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a dramatic decline. The smallest decline of -9.6% was in 2020.
In value terms, wood pulp imports shrank to $114M in 2022. Overall, imports faced a sharp setback.
