Wood-Based Panels Price in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2022
The average wood-based panels import price stood at $400 per cubic meter in 2022, picking up by 13% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, wood-based panels import price increased by +73.7% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($775 per cubic meter), while the price for Luxembourg ($136 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wood-Based Panels Price in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2022
The average wood-based panels export price stood at $256 per cubic meter in 2022, growing by 2.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $435 per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($702 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Iceland ($57 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Denmark (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Wood-Based Panels Imports in the Netherlands
Wood-based panels imports into the Netherlands declined to 3.7M cubic meters in 2022, waning by -12.1% on the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 28%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 4.3M cubic meters, and then contracted in the following year.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +49.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 38%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $1.5B, leveling off in the following year.
