Wrapping Papers Price in Serbia (CIF) - 2023
In November 2023, the average wrapping papers import price amounted to $1,085 per ton, with a decrease of -3.2% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 an increase of 5.8% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,370 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to November 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($1,871 per ton), while the price for Belarus ($730 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+8.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Wrapping Papers Price in Serbia (FOB) - 2023
In November 2023, the average wrapping papers export price amounted to $1,152 per ton, approximately mirroring the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 5.1% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $1,257 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to November 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($2,188 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina ($897 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Croatia (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Wrapping Papers Imports in Serbia
In 2022, the amount of wrapping paper, packaging paper and paperboard imported into Serbia rose slightly to 85K tons, picking up by 3% on the previous year. Overall, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +14.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +50.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 24%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, wrapping papers imports soared to $109M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 47% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
