Wrapping Papers Price in Switzerland (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average wrapping papers export price amounted to $2,754 per ton, with an increase of 26% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.3%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($3,650 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($2,010 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+7.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wrapping Papers Price in Switzerland (CIF) - 2023
The average wrapping papers import price stood at $2,270 per ton in August 2023, stabilizing at the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 22% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,953 per ton. From January 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($6,113 per ton), while the price for Spain ($1,590 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wrapping Papers Exports in Switzerland
In 2022, overseas shipments of wrapping paper, packaging paper and paperboard decreased by -18.9% to 31K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, total exports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +41.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 54% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 38K tons, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, wrapping papers exports amounted to $84M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 73% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
