Yams Price in Italy (CIF) - 2023
In October 2023, the average yams import price amounted to $908 per ton, reducing by -36.8% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 62% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $1,912 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to October 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($2,890 per ton), while the price for Ghana stood at $859 per ton.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ghana (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Yams Price in Italy (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average yams export price amounted to $2,491 per ton, standing approximately at the previous month. In general, the export price enjoyed buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 37% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $2,860 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Malta ($3,471 per ton), while the average price for exports to Greece ($2,223 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+9.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
