Zinc Dust Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2022

The average zinc dust import price stood at $4,824 per ton in 2022, increasing by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, zinc dust import price increased by +59.3% against 2020 indices. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($5,087 per ton), while the price for India ($4,493 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+26.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average zinc dust export price stood at $5,354 per ton in 2022, rising by 11% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate temperate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 77% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $5,671 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uruguay ($7,364 per ton), while the average price for exports to Argentina totaled $5,247 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uruguay (+6.0%).

Zinc Dust Imports in Brazil

After three years of growth, purchases abroad of zinc dusts decreased by -2.6% to 857 tons in 2022. In general, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +16.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +57.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 35%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 880 tons, and then shrank slightly in the following year.

In value terms, zinc dust imports skyrocketed to $4.1M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 64%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
