In 2022, the average zinc dust import price amounted to $1,909 per ton, falling by -13.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 96% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $3,841 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Iran ($1,998 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($1,163 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+109.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Zinc Dust Imports in Iraq
In 2022, overseas purchases of zinc dusts decreased by -61.3% to 4.9 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports recorded a dramatic slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 98% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 20 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, zinc dust imports dropped markedly to $9.3K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a dramatic shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 59%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $46K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
