Angola was the key exporter of densified wood in Africa, with the volume of exports reaching X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2023. Burkina Faso (X tons) took a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by South Africa (X%). Gabon (X tons), Namibia (X tons) and Cameroon (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.

At the same time, Burkina Faso (X%), Namibia (X%), Gabon (X%) and South Africa (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Cameroon (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In 2023, imports of densified wood in Africa soared to X tons, growing by X% on 2022. In general, imports recorded a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2022 with an increase of X%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, densified wood imports surged to $X in 2023. Total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2023: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, imports increased by X% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2023 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
