Saudi Arabia (X tons) was the main destination for vegetable product exports from Egypt, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, vegetable product exports to Saudi Arabia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Jordan (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Turkey (X tons), with a X% share.

Imports into Egypt

In 2023, purchases abroad of vegetable products was finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2020, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by X%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, vegetable product imports reached $X in 2023. Overall, imports recorded a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

China (X tons), Ukraine (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main suppliers of vegetable product imports to Egypt, with a combined X% share of total imports. Tunisia, Cyprus and Bulgaria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.
