Exports in the EU
Melamine exports contracted significantly to X tons in 2022, declining by X% compared with 2021. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, melamine exports dropped markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
Exports by Country
The Netherlands represented the key exporter of melamine in the European Union, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2022. Germany (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Belgium (X tons). All these countries together took near X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Spain (X tons) and Poland (X tons) - together made up X% of total exports.
Exports from the Netherlands increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Spain (X%) and Belgium (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Spain emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Germany (X%) and Poland (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the Netherlands (X p.p.), Spain (X p.p.) and Belgium (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Germany (X p.p.) and Poland (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Germany ($X) emerged as the largest melamine supplier in the European Union, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belgium ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Spain, with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany stood at X%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belgium (X% per year) and Spain (X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then fell significantly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of melamine increased by X% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after three years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, melamine imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the eight major importers of melamine, namely Germany, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, Romania and Austria, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Slovenia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In 2022, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, growing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while Slovenia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
