The shipments of the seven major exporters of maize oil, namely Belgium, Hungary, Italy, France, Spain, Russia and Poland, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

From 2012 to 2023, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, maize oil imports rose slightly to $X in 2023. In general, imports, however, saw a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2023, Germany (X tons), distantly followed by Belgium (X tons), Greece (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Spain (X tons) and the UK (X tons) were the key importers of maize oil, together achieving X% of total imports. Sweden (X tons), Austria (X tons), France (X tons), Hungary (X tons), Poland (X tons), Bosnia and Herzegovina (X tons) and Italy (X tons) took a little share of total imports.
