In 2023, the global lead ore market decreased by X% to $X for the first time since 2020, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, consumption, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Global consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, lead ore production dropped to $X in 2023 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, recorded a noticeable descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the production volume increased by X%. Global production peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2023, overseas shipments of lead ores were finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. Overall, exports, however, recorded a mild descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2023, the growth of the global exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, lead ore exports expanded markedly to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a pronounced downturn. Over the period under review, the global exports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

The shipments of the twelve major exporters of lead ores, namely Peru, Russia, Australia, the United States, Mexico, Spain, Turkey, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Bolivia, the Netherlands, Tajikistan and Portugal, represented more than two-thirds of total export. South Africa (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Portugal (with a CAGR of X%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Peru ($X), Mexico ($X) and the United States ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2023, together accounting for X% of global exports. Russia, Australia, Spain, the Netherlands, Bolivia, Turkey, Tajikistan, South Africa, Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Portugal lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.

Among the main exporting countries, Portugal, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average lead ore export price stood at $X per ton in 2023, growing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by X%. The global export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while Portugal ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bolivia (X%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Lead Ore Imports

In 2023, purchases abroad of lead ores increased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2020, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, showed a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by X%. Global imports peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, lead ore imports stood at $X in 2023. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

China represented the major importing country with an import of about X tons, which finished at X% of total imports. South Korea (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons). All these countries together held approx. X% share of total imports. The following importers - Belgium (X tons) and Japan (X tons) - each finished at an X% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to lead ore imports into China stood at X%. At the same time, the Netherlands (X%), Kazakhstan (X%) and South Korea (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Netherlands emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Japan (X%) and Belgium (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period.
