Exports by Country
Turkey was the main exporting country with an export of around X kg, which recorded X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Saudi Arabia (X kg), the United Arab Emirates (X kg) and Lebanon (X kg), together creating a X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Bahrain (X kg) and Iran (X kg) - together made up X% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Iran (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest platinum supplying countries in the Middle East were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Turkey ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports. Bahrain, Iran and Lebanon lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Lebanon, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per kg in 2023, surging by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2023 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per kg), while Lebanon ($X per kg) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, platinum imports contracted to $X in 2023. Overall, imports, however, showed a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by X%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The United Arab Emirates dominates imports structure, recording X tons, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2023. Turkey (X kg) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Qatar (X%), Jordan (X%) and Iraq (X%). The following importers - Israel (X kg) and Iran (X kg) - each resulted at a X% share of total imports.
The United Arab Emirates was also the fastest-growing in terms of the platinum imports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Jordan (X%) and Israel (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Iraq experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Turkey (X%), Iran (X%) and Qatar (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The United Arab Emirates (X p.p.), Jordan (X p.p.), Iraq (X p.p.), Turkey (X p.p.) and Israel (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Qatar saw its share reduced by X% from 2012 to 2023, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported platinum in the Middle East, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Iran ($X), with an X% share of total imports. It was followed by Iraq, with an X% share.
From 2012 to 2023, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the United Arab Emirates totaled X%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Iran (X% per year) and Iraq (X% per year).
