Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country
Namibia represented the largest exporter of frozen whole fish in SADC, with the volume of exports resulting at X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2023. Seychelles (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by South Africa (X%), Mauritius (X%) and Angola (X%).
From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to frozen whole fish exports from Namibia stood at X%. At the same time, Angola (X%) and Seychelles (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Angola emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in SADC, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. Mauritius experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, South Africa (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In 2023, the export price in SADC amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per ton), while Angola ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (X%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in SADC

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

The purchases of the six major importers of frozen whole fish, namely Mauritius, South Africa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia, Mozambique and Seychelles, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Madagascar (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2023, the biggest increases were recorded for Zambia (with a CAGR of X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
