In 2023, the Southeast Asian malt market increased by X% to $X, rising for the third consecutive year after four years of decline. In general, consumption recorded a slight downturn. In value terms, malt exports declined rapidly to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a pronounced expansion. The shipments of the three major exporters of malt (not roasted), namely Malaysia, Cambodia and Indonesia, represented more than two-thirds of total export. Vietnam (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Thailand (X%). Singapore (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2022 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, malt imports contracted to $X in 2023. Total imports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2023: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years.
