In 2023, the Southeast Asian molasse market decreased by X% to $X for the first time since 2020, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a abrupt setback. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, molasse exports surged to $X in 2023. In general, exports, however, recorded a pronounced descent. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Indonesia was the main exporter of molasses in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2023. It was distantly followed by Thailand (X tons), comprising a X% share of total exports. Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

Exports from Indonesia increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Lao People's Democratic Republic (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lao People's Democratic Republic emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Vietnam (X%) and Thailand (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, Indonesia ($X) emerged as the largest molasse supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Thailand ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Lao People's Democratic Republic, with a X% share.

In 2023, molasse imports in South-Eastern Asia skyrocketed to X tons, surging by X% on 2022. In general, imports saw prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of X%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, molasse imports skyrocketed to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.
