The total export value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012 to 2023; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2022 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank in the following year.

Vietnam represented the major exporting country with an export of about X tons, which amounted to X% of total exports. Thailand (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Malaysia (X%) and Indonesia (X%). The following exporters - Singapore (X tons), the Philippines (X tons) and Cambodia (X tons) - each accounted for a X% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2023, the biggest increases were recorded for Cambodia (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, imports increased by X% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2023 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In value terms, plastic bag imports reduced slightly to $X in 2023. Total imports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2023: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by X%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2022, and then dropped slightly in the following year.

The countries with the highest levels of plastic bag imports in 2023 were Thailand (X tons), the Philippines (X tons), Singapore (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons), together amounting to X% of total import. It was distantly followed by Cambodia (X tons), mixing up a X% share of total imports. Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
