Over the period under review, production reached the peak level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports in South-Eastern Asia dropped to X tons, with a decrease of -10.8% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, exports showed a slight setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 60%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports stood at $X in 2021. Total exports indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +102.0% against 2013 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 54% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Singapore was the largest exporting country with an export of around X tons, which reached 83% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Malaysia (X tons), comprising a 13% share of total exports. Indonesia (X tons) held a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports from Singapore stood at +6.4%. At the same time, Malaysia (+54.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Malaysia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +54.1% from 2012-2021. In Singapore, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports expanded at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Malaysia (+63.1% per year) and Indonesia (-20.5% per year).

The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 13% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +5.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 55% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2021, the amount of unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons imported in South-Eastern Asia rose modestly to X tons, with an increase of 4.8% on the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In value terms, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Singapore (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) prevails in imports structure, together creating 87% of total imports. It was distantly followed by the Philippines (X tons), comprising a 5.2% share of total imports. Indonesia (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by the Philippines (with a CAGR of +83.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

In value terms, Singapore ($X), Thailand ($X) and Indonesia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 94% of total imports. The Philippines and Malaysia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 5.5%.

Among the main importing countries, the Philippines, with a CAGR of +66.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 15% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a mild curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the import price increased by 17%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while the Philippines ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (-0.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
