After two years of decline, overseas shipments of anise, badian, fennel and coriander increased by X% to X tons in 2023. Overall, exports continue to indicate a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of X%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, anise, badian, fennel and coriander exports expanded to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, exports posted a strong expansion. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2022, and then declined dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, anise, badian, fennel and coriander imports reduced notably to $X in 2023. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2022, and then reduced sharply in the following year.
Imports by Country
Ghana was the key importer of anise, badian, fennel and coriander in Western Africa, with the volume of imports accounting for X tons, which was near X% of total imports in 2023. Nigeria (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Niger (X%), Togo (X%) and Senegal (X%). Sierra Leone (X tons) took a little share of total imports.
