Green Coffee Market Size in Western Africa

The West African green coffee market dropped modestly to $X in 2023, approximately mirroring the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, posted strong growth. In Guinea, green coffee production expanded at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2023. The remaining producing countries recorded the following average annual rates of production growth: Cote d'Ivoire (X% per year) and Togo (X% per year).

In 2023, the average yield of coffee (green) in Western Africa dropped significantly to X tons per ha, waning by X% on 2022 figures. Over the period under review, the yield saw a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of yield peaked at X tons per ha in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the yield remained at a lower figure. Exports by Country

In 2023, Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) was the largest exporter of coffee (green), making up X% of total exports. Guinea (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Togo (X%). The following exporters - Burkina Faso (X tons) and Sierra Leone (X tons) - each amounted to a X% share of total exports.

Exports from Cote d'Ivoire decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Burkina Faso (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Burkina Faso emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. Senegal was the largest importer of coffee (green) in Western Africa, with the volume of imports amounting to X tons, which was near X% of total imports in 2023. Burkina Faso (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Cabo Verde (X%), Nigeria (X%), Mauritania (X%) and Mali (X%). Benin (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Senegal was also the fastest-growing in terms of the coffee (green) imports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2023.
