Biological Product Price in Slovakia (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average biological product import price amounted to $668,967 per ton, picking up by 16% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 34%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($5,964,253 per ton), while the price for Denmark ($46,453 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+23.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Biological Product Price in Slovakia (FOB) - 2022
The average biological product export price stood at $291,409 per ton in 2022, surging by 5.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 116% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $378,650 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($601,559 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($55,722 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+26.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Biological Product Imports in Slovakia
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of biological products, when their volume decreased by -41.3% to 666 tons. In general, imports saw a noticeable slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 32%.
In value terms, biological product imports declined remarkably to $445M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +21.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 51%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $655M, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.

Overall, exports continue to indicate a dramatic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 44% against the previous year.
In value terms, biological product exports dropped markedly to $15M in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a dramatic contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 35% against the previous year.
