Biological Product Price in the United States (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average biological product import price amounted to $1,572,379 per ton, dropping by -15.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a temperate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $2,344,598 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($14,695,279 per ton), while the price for Canada ($57,134 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+19.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Biological Product Price in the United States (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average biological product export price amounted to $445,788 per ton, increasing by 44% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($1,770,390 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($84,563 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+23.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Biological Product Imports in the United States

Biological product imports into the United States was estimated at 35K tons in 2022, growing by 12% on the previous year's figure. Overall, total imports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +23.7% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +89.2% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 40% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, biological product imports dropped to $55.2B in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 22% against the previous year.
