Leather Price in Poland (CIF) - 2022
The average leather import price stood at $7.5 per square meter in 2021, waning by -3.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a slight setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 11% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $11 per square meter. From 2015 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($28 per square meter), while the price for Bulgaria ($2.2 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Leather Price in Poland (FOB) - 2022
The average leather export price stood at $3.6 per square meter in 2021, dropping by -24% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 18%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $10 per square meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($30 per square meter), while the average price for exports to Italy ($2.6 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+13.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Leather Imports in Poland
In 2022, approx. 18M square meters of leather were imported into Poland; with a decrease of -60% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a sharp curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 24% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 45M square meters, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
In value terms, leather imports shrank rapidly to $273M in 2022. Overall, imports showed a abrupt decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $358M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Over the period under review, exports saw a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 36%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 55M square meters, and then fell remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, leather exports contracted markedly to $163M in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 3.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $208M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
