Price for Grated and Blue Cheese in Poland (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average grated and blue cheese export price amounted to $5,330 per ton, picking up by 2% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 6.7% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $6,015 per ton. From December 2022 to August 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In August 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Denmark ($6,393 per ton) and the UK ($6,243 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($4,642 per ton) and Hungary ($4,666 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Grated and Blue Cheese in Poland (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average grated and blue cheese import price amounted to $6,489 per ton, with a decrease of -2.5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 6.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $6,653 per ton in July 2023, and then fell in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($10,815 per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic ($4,861 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Greece (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Grated and Blue Cheese in Poland
In 2022, shipments abroad of grated, powdered and blue-veined cheese decreased by -13% to 113K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 13% against the previous year.
In value terms, grated and blue cheese exports rose markedly to $622M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +13.0% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 17%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
