Price for Human and Animal Blood in Ghana (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average human and animal blood import price amounted to $73,589 per ton, reducing by -28.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, enjoyed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 482%. The import price peaked at $102,794 per ton in 2021, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($149,444 per ton), while the price for China ($7,366 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+18.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average human and animal blood export price amounted to $61,873 per ton, which is down by -2.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 23%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $180,000 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($432,500 per ton), while the average price for exports to Denmark ($19,000 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+52.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
