The average lead; waste and scrap export price stood at $820 per ton in 2022, declining by -28.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 47% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $1,603 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($924 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates amounted to $805 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+0.6%).

Exports of Lead; Waste and Scrap in Sudan

For the fourth consecutive year, Sudan recorded growth in shipments abroad of lead; waste and scraps, which increased by 34% to 1.2K tons in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +21.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +80.8% against 2019 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, lead; waste and scrap exports dropped slightly to $1M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a noticeable shrinkage. The smallest decline of -1.9% was in 2020.
