In 2022, the average tobacco refuse import price amounted to $2,214 per ton, falling by -9.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average import price increased by 39% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $2,450 per ton in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for the United Arab Emirates.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Saudi Arabia amounted to +41.9% per year.
Tobacco Refuse Imports in Iraq
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of tobacco refuses, when their volume decreased by -21.8% to 124 tons. Overall, imports, however, showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 77%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 158 tons, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.
