Uncured Cheese Price in South Africa (FOB) - 2023
The average uncured cheese export price stood at $3,910 per ton in September 2023, shrinking by -6.3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 50% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $4,690 per ton. From December 2022 to September 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Swaziland ($9,825 per ton), while the average price for exports to Zambia ($2,338 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Swaziland (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Uncured Cheese Price in South Africa (CIF) - 2023
The average uncured cheese import price stood at $6,956 per ton in September 2023, surging by 42% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.5%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $7,083 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
