Madagascar represented the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which reached X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Nigeria (X tons), committing a X% share of total exports. Tanzania (X tons) took a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to mica exports from Madagascar stood at X%. At the same time, Tanzania (X%) and Nigeria (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, Madagascar ($X) remains the largest mica supplier in Africa, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Nigeria ($X), with an X% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2023, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Madagascar totaled X%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Nigeria (X% per year) and Tanzania (X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2023, reducing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a perceptible decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2022 an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

For the third consecutive year, Africa recorded decline in purchases abroad of mica, which decreased by X% to X tons in 2023. Over the period under review, imports saw a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, mica imports declined remarkably to $X in 2023. In general, imports recorded a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by X%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Niger (X tons), Zimbabwe (X tons) and Botswana (X tons) represented roughly X% of total imports in 2023. Gabon (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Rwanda (X tons). All these countries together took approx. X% share of total imports. The following importers - Kenya (X tons) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (X tons) - each reached a X% share of total imports.

In value terms, Zimbabwe ($X), Botswana ($X) and Niger ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2023, together comprising X% of total imports.

Zimbabwe, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2023, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, surging by X% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of X%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2023, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X per ton), while Rwanda ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
