The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, exports decreased by X% against 2021 indices. From 2022 to 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, spirits and liqueurs exports soared to $X in 2023. The following exporters - Kazakhstan (X litres) and Azerbaijan (X litres) - each accounted for a X% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2023, the biggest increases were recorded for Kazakhstan (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest spirits and liqueurs supplying countries in the CIS were Armenia ($X), Russia ($X) and Moldova ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports. Belarus, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per litre), while Belarus ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in CIS

Spirits and liqueurs imports reached X litres in 2023, growing by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X litres in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, spirits and liqueurs imports skyrocketed to $X in 2023. Overall, imports, however, recorded a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by X%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Russia was the largest importer of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages in the CIS, with the volume of imports recording X litres, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2023. Kazakhstan (X litres) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Belarus (X%). Armenia (X litres) and Azerbaijan (X litres) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to spirits and liqueurs imports into Russia stood at X%. At the same time, Azerbaijan (X%), Belarus (X%) and Kazakhstan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth.
